Having won the 1st division title the last 3 years Guiseley ‘A’ had to settle for 2nd place to local rivals Rufford. Despite a great last result for Guiseley against Bramley 26-4, Rufford won away at Farsley 22-8 to win the league by 3 points.
We look forward to doing battle again next season.
In Division 3 Guiseley ‘B’ team finished level with Menston top of the table but just lost out by aggregate. We still win promotion back to division 2 so well done to all the players.
The ‘A’ team are hoping to overturn local rivals Rufford at the top of the Aire-Wharfe Division 1 for the 3rd year running. The last 2 years have seen Guiseley behind Rufford on the last match of the season and Guiseley have managed to get the wins needed to just win the league.
This season is looking tighter than ever but Guiseley did themselves a big favour with a 25-5 win at home to Ilkley whilst Rufford ‘A’ beat their ‘B’ team 20-10. There is now only 4 points in it at the top but Rufford play at home next week whilst Guiseley play away at Rawdon. The week after though, Guiseley play at home to Rufford, there will be lots of twists and turns to come.
The ‘B’ team are 2nd in Division 3 hoping for promotion again to Division 2.
Having lost in the Henry Taylor Cup the day before, Guiseley ‘A’ team took on local rivals and holders Rufford at Wharfemeadows in the Maria Ogden cup semi-final.
Guiseley won the first 2 blocks meaning they only needed 1 win from the remaining 3. The first winners off were Richard and Joe Stockdale meaning they were in the final for the first time since 2009. We last won the competition in 2008 and will be hoping to repeat that on the 19th August.
